Case Study: How We Gave the European Wrestling Championship a New Media Dimension.
From April 9 to 13, 2025, our JANDASPORT team® traveled to Šamorín, Slovakia, near Bratislava, where the European Wrestling Championship was held.
The International Wrestling Association (UWW) chose the x-bionic® sphere in Šamorín as the venue for this year’s European Championship — the official Olympic training center of Slovakia, certified by the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee. It offers top-class sports facilities and support used by both domestic and international teams across various sports.
Our task was to:
Capture the action from the European Championship
Support the visibility of the sport, athletes, and the Wrestling Federation’s brand
Pre-record as much content as possible for future use as part of our long-term collaboration

Static Posts
We usually published carousel posts with match highlights as soon as possible after each match ended — always by the end of the same day. Every day during the European Championship, we concluded with a recap post summarizing everything that happened that day and what fans could look forward to in the coming days.
For most posts on Instagram, we aimed to publish them in collaboration with the wrestlers themselves. When a wrestler agreed to this collaboration, the post appeared both on the Wrestling Federation’s profile and the wrestler’s own profile. This helped boost the visibility of the athletes.

Videos
A key format during the European Championship was short vertical videos (9:16). We created a total of 21 videos and pre-recorded at least 30 more for future use on the Federation’s social media as part of our long-term collaboration.
During the individual matches, we also filmed horizontal (16:9) footage. We then provided this material to Czech Television, which could use it in their sports news segment Branky, body, vteřiny.
Unfortunately, the organizers did not grant us access to the areas where the wrestlers were preparing for their matches, nor to the mats themselves. As a result, all of our content had to be filmed from the spectator stands or outside the arena.

Stories
Stories are vertical-format (9:16) posts shared on Instagram and Facebook, where viewers can watch them within the next 24 hours before they disappear. Stories can include videos, graphics, or links directing viewers to one of the published posts on your profile.
Throughout the European Championship, Stories were a key format for keeping viewers informed about what was happening in Šamorín. In total, we published 128 Stories over 5 days — averaging 25 Stories per day.
There were a lot of people in the arena, which sometimes made it challenging to deal with internet speed and still deliver the experience to viewers as close to “real-time” as possible. Uploading Stories during matches was especially tricky — our goal was to give viewers instant updates on what was happening on the mat, which wasn’t always 100% achievable.

Instagram Highlights
As mentioned above, Stories disappear after 24 hours. However, they can be saved into so-called Highlights. Highlights are visible on the Instagram profile , and by clicking on them, viewers can watch all the Stories we included in that Highlight.

During the European Championship, we saved published Stories into Highlightsas we went along. If viewers missed the live updates on a given day, they could catch up by watching these Highlights afterward. Viewers still have access to all the coverage from the European Championship through these Highlights today.
Instagram Bio Edit
Every Instagram profile has a section called the Bio in its header, where key information can be written for viewers to see each time they visit the profile. Wrestling Federation’s Instagram – we regularly updated thatto provide viewers with current information about the European Championship, so they didn’t have to search for it elsewhere.

Editing Post Captions
For the Wrestling Federation, two key platforms are used for communication. Facebook primarily serves the “older” generation, where quick information updates are crucial. Instagram, on the other hand, targets a “younger” audience who not only seek information but also pay close attention to the visual aspect. For example, to encourage athletes to share a post on their own profiles, the post must be aesthetically appealing enough so it doesn’t harm their personal “image” when shared.
During the European Championship, many “older” viewers turned to Facebook to find the latest updates on how the wrestlers were doing. To keep these viewers informed in real time, we immediately added any new updates to the captions of the published posts. So no matter which post a viewer came across about a particular wrestler, they could find up-to-date information in the caption about whether they had won or lost, or when their next match would take place.

Roll-ups and the overarching logo ROAD TO LA 2028
The European Championship in Šamorín was the first stop on the journey undertaken by the Wrestling Federation together with the agency JANDASPORT®. This journey is expected to culminate at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, where Czech wrestlers will strive to achieve the greatest possible success.
For this project, we collaboratively created a visual identity with a logothat will be part of all key materials overseeing activities on the road to the Olympics.

In addition to the logo itself, two roll-upswere created, which were then printed and used during the filming at the European Championship. The first roll-up celebrates 130 years of Czech wrestling in the Czech Republic, while the second roll-up was specifically designed for our journey to the LA2028 Olympics.

What was the feedback?
Comments and fan interactions
Our content on social media during the European Championship recorded 17,000 interactions— including likes on Stories and posts, comments, shares, saves, and more. For the Czech Wrestling Federation, this represents an increase in interactions by thousands of percent. Of course, we expect that maintaining such numbers long-term, especially in months without major tournaments, will be challenging.
We consider it crucial to maintain constant contact with fans and to show them that we truly appreciate their engagement and support. That’s why we responded to every comment under our posts..

The fact that our content entertained fans on Instagram is also proven by the number of so-called reposts in Stories. This means that viewers took our post and shared it in their own Stories, helping us spread the event at the European Championships among their followers. Some fans who were present at the event also shared their own Stories, which we then reshared on the Wrestling Federation’s profile.
Below you can see how many fans shared our content in their Stories or created their own Stories.

Results in numbers
It is clear that the event was a very strong one-time success for the Wrestling Federation. However, our long-term goal is not only media coverage of the tournaments but also attracting new partners and sponsors for the Wrestling Federation of the Czech Republic.
One of the key factors in attracting partners is the potential reach on social media and the overall media impactwe can generate during tournaments like the European Championship. These numbers serve as strong reference points for partners when making decisions. For most partners, collaboration represents a brand activity aimed at long-term visibility of their brand among a new target audience. Through these figures, we can calculate and communicate to partners how many people we have reached (i.e., how many people, for example, saw the partner’s logo on our materials, etc.).

How We Worked
At the European Championship,® a total of 3 team members from JANDASPORT participatedA key advantage of our agency is having highly capable and multifunctional team members who can cover multiple roles simultaneously at such events.
At the European Championship, Michal took on the role of producer and photographer, Samuel handled the camera work and overall directing, and Vítek, the dramaturge, was responsible for Stories and publishing some of the posts.
From Prague, another 4 team members JANDASPORT®worked remotely, dedicated to this collaboration. These were Michael (graphic designer), Valeria (project manager), Tomáš (video editor), and Jakub (idea maker).
In the vicinity of the arena in Šamorín, we established a JANDASPORT® “base” from where we managed operations both on-site and coordinated with our team in Prague. Materials that didn’t need immediate publishing were sent to our Prague team for processing, who either published them directly or sent them back to the Šamorín team for posting. Conversely, materials requiring immediate release were handled and published directly at the arena during the tournament.
The biggest challenge directly in the arena was keeping up with publishing Stories about the current events live. As soon as a match started, we had to simultaneously take photos, record videos, quickly edit everything within minutes, and hand it over for publishing (like the match highlights, etc.).
Every event requires a different number and arrangement of team members on-site. We have experience with large projects where we had over 10 people present to ensure everything ran smoothly and everyone had a clear role. On the other hand, smaller events can be effectively covered by just 1 or 2 people who can handle multiple functions at once. It always depends on the budget and the main goals of the event. Whether you are a large association with a bigger budget or a smaller organization that needs to be cost-conscious, we can design a tailored solution that meets your needs without being unnecessarily expensive.
Continuation of Cooperation
As already mentioned, the European Championship was the first event we covered for the Wrestling Federation. Next up should be the World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia, in September 2025.
The collaboration with the Wrestling Federation, however, is not only about these bigger events, even though we see that these events offer the greatest reach and the ability to engage many fans. What is key for us is the long-term retention of active fans and attracting new ones. All of this aims to increase the visibility of the Wrestling Federation and wrestling as a sport. Thanks to this, it will be possible to seek partners and strengthen the position when applying for grants and similar support. Equally important is promoting the athletes themselves, through whom the sport gains popularity. At the same time, we want our athletes to be role models for the younger generation , providing them with motivation and inspiration on their life journeys.
In the months following the European Championship, we plan to publish content that we pre-recorded at the event and can release “at any time.” This content includes videos about how wrestlers eat, how they train, their pre-match rituals, wrestlers’ reactions to other matches, and more. Some types of content will also be filmed separately in Prague.
